THREE EFFICIENCY HACKS
“small physical tricks save surprising amounts of effort.”
The Lesson
Three unrelated physical efficiency tips. (1) Learn the waiter's carry. Prop heavy items on one arm tucked into your body. It's pure balance; once set up, almost no effort to carry very heavy things. Practice with things that won't break badly. (2) Don't unload grocery bags one item at a time. Grab the bottom, turn upside down, shake gently. Fifteen years of doing this, zero broken items. Put a blanket down if worried. (3) When helping someone park, don't just say 'keep going, stop!' Instead, show distance with your hands. Start wide and close them as they get closer. Exact representation they can see. Airports and farmers do this.
Real-World Example
A founder carries heavy boxes at their warehouse single-handed using the waiter's carry (one arm tucked, box balanced on palm). They unpack supply deliveries by dumping bags rather than removing items one by one. When directing a truck delivery to the loading dock, they use the hand-closing technique so the driver knows exactly how much room remains. Three small tricks, cumulative time savings over a year: significant.
