WINNING A COIN TOSS EVERY TIME

catch it in the air. feel the texture. flip if needed.

The Lesson

A dirty trick for fun or magic, not serious decisions. Use a quarter. It's big enough to feel the difference. Run your finger over heads (Washington). It's smooth. Tails is always rougher, regardless of which quarter design. You must be the one to toss. Catch it overhand while it's still in the air. Don't let it land. This looks fair but gives you control. While the coin is hidden in your palm, feel the texture with your finger. Smooth means heads is up in your hand (will show tails when revealed). If you need the opposite result, just flip it over as you reveal. Practice until you can do it smoothly every time.

Real-World Example

At a team dinner, a founder uses this trick to 'win' who pays the bill three times in a row, then reveals how it works. The team is amazed. It becomes a running joke about 'loaded decisions' and a reminder that things that look fair might not be. The founder uses it as a metaphor in a later all-hands about examining assumptions.
