PROGRAMMING YOUR BRAIN VIA WORD CHOICE

words are programming language. say 'amazing' until you believe it.

The Lesson

Words are the programming language for your brain, not just communication tools. When someone asks how you are, don't give an honest negative answer. Say 'amazing' or 'couldn't be better.' After decades of this, it actually programs you toward optimism. Your brain doesn't really process 'not.' It sees the big words. So 'I'm not bad' programs 'bad.' Better: 'I'm not great but getting better every day.' This programs 'great' and 'better.' Skip tragedy and drama in media. They're programming you negatively. Speak optimistically but realistically. Science shows that believing you're lucky actually broadens your perception and helps you notice opportunities. Never 'be yourself.' Be the better, more optimistic version of yourself. Every word you choose is a programming bit.

Real-World Example

A founder is exhausted from a failed fundraise. Their instinct is to say 'I'm struggling' when asked how they're doing. Instead, they force themselves to say 'I'm learning a ton and getting sharper every day.' It feels fake at first. But after a month of this, they notice they actually feel more optimistic. Their brain took the words literally. They start cutting negative news from their media diet too. Their next fundraise goes better, partly because their genuine optimism is now contagious.
