The Lesson

Exercise is only 10% of weight loss. Diet is how you lose weight. So why exercise? Health and looking good. The key is making it addictive: rewards, fun, no pain. 'No pain no gain' is for Olympians. For everyone else, pain means you won't do it tomorrow. The exact right amount of exercise is whatever makes you want to do it again. Put on your exercise clothes when you don't feel like it. The physicality triggers the routine. Join a team to get schedule protection from your spouse. Use free weights (machines don't produce visible results) and pound the protein.

Real-World Example

A founder wants to get fit but keeps quitting gyms. Wrong approach: intense CrossFit classes that leave them destroyed. Right approach: find a garage gym setup that feels good to be in, do something light every single day, reward with a protein shake after. No dramatic workouts. Just consistent presence. When motivation is low, put on the workout clothes and start walking around. The routine takes over. Three months later, still going. The gym-quitters are still quitting.
