POWER OF PRAISE

compliments are free. people are starved. give them constantly.

The Lesson

Compliments are free to give but enormously valuable to receive, making it almost immoral to withhold genuine praise. Key insights: (1) People are starved. 95% go days without a real compliment. (2) Even famous/attractive people want more. There's no 'enough.' (3) The right compliment at the right time can be life-altering (Wizard of Oz moment). (4) Compliments motivate behavior. Praise what you want more of. (5) Great opening line for making friends. (6) Builds bonds. If you think someone already gets enough compliments, you're wrong. Give the compliment. Every time.

Real-World Example

A founder joins a new coworking space. First day, they compliment someone's laptop setup. Small thing. That person introduces them around. A week later, they compliment a designer's portfolio-genuinely. Designer offers to help with their pitch deck. The founder's network grew entirely from free compliments that cost nothing and created real value.
