GAMIFYING BORING CHORES
“be the best towel folder ever. dopamine follows mastery.”
The Lesson
Humans are built to enjoy small manual tasks done well. The trick to gamifying boring chores: be so good at them that you get a dopamine hit. Fold a towel in two perfect motions and tell yourself 'I might be the best towel folder of all time.' It doesn't have to be true. You just have to enjoy the feeling of doing it perfectly. Every mundane task can be done efficiently, elegantly, gracefully. Find that way, and the task becomes fun. Dopamine explodes in your head just because you did something well.
Real-World Example
A founder hates cleaning their desk. They gamify: 'Can I clear this in under 60 seconds with zero wasted motion?' They optimize the sequence, find the flow, execute flawlessly. 58 seconds. Dopamine hit. 'I might be the world's fastest desk clearer.' Silly? Yes. Effective? Completely. The dreaded chore becomes a daily micro-game they actually look forward to.
