Believing in free will puts you in victim status. You can only control your choices while everything else controls you. You're an ant in a land of elephants. Alternative: give up the free will illusion and adopt the author illusion. Authors don't just choose their own actions. They shape how others feel and respond. When you enter a room, don't think 'how will they feel about me?' Think 'how will I make them feel?' People like Elon Musk don't believe in free will. They author the fabric of reality. Both are illusions; pick the one that puts you in the author role.
Real-World Example
A founder with 'free will' mindset enters a room thinking: 'I hope they like my pitch.' Victim frame. They adopt author mindset: 'I'm going to make them excited about this opportunity.' Same room, different illusion. The author walks in knowing they'll shape the emotional trajectory. They do. The pitch succeeds not because the content changed but because the founder stopped being a victim and started authoring the room.
