BRAIN POLLUTION
“what you focus on becomes you. avoid brain pollution.”
The Lesson
Guard against brain pollution-things you don't want in your head. Negative conversations: don't dwell on others' problems; focusing on negative makes it part of you. News: limit unless it's your job; entertainment news makes you frustrated. Social media: especially harmful because of comparison and bullying. Sad music, movies, art: don't put a war on your wall. What you focus on becomes who you are. Your body starts responding with anxiety and bad feelings. Manage attention toward positive things and you'll notice improvement within a day.
Real-World Example
A founder realizes they're anxious all the time. They audit their inputs: doomscrolling news at breakfast, sad music while working, conversations that spiral into complaining. They implement changes: news only 10 minutes daily, upbeat playlists, redirect negative conversations. Within a week: noticeably calmer. Same life circumstances, different inputs. The brain pollution was creating the anxiety.
