JUDGE BY POTENTIAL

you are your potential, not your past. judge yourself by what you'll do.

The Lesson

My stepdaughter asked why I see her as better than she sees herself. Answer: she judged herself by her past (what have I done?), while I judged her by her habits, character, and potential (what will she do?). Her frame was limiting; mine was expansive. I've lived my entire life this way. I've never considered myself by what I've done, only by what I'll do in the future. That's my value. Your value too. You're the person who might do great stuff later. Judge yourself by your potential and the systems you're building, not your track record so far.

Real-World Example

A founder feels inadequate. Their company hasn't hit milestones yet. They're judging by past achievement. They shift frames: look at their habits (disciplined), their skills (growing), their network (expanding). The past says 'not yet successful.' The potential says 'building toward something big.' Same person, different frame. The potential frame is more useful and probably more accurate.
